Our stories are told by our actions. The Samoan Group for 2018 have been preparing tirelessly for the Cultural Festival. The seniors will be performing their Sasa.

Come join us at Sancta Maria College’s 2018 Cultural Day and witness the breathtaking elegance of Vietnamese dancing. This year our group will be portraying the gracefulness of Vietnamese women with two songs and through the girls’ elegant yet sophisticated movements.

The discipline of synchronized skating, or synchro, comprises of skaters forming shapes such as circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison. In Sancta Maria College, we have six of these synchronized figure skaters. With Nicola Bebelman, Courtney Wertheim, Victoria Heald and Katrina Chan in Black Ice and Amanda and Adela skating for the Ice Angels.

2018 New Zealand Ice Figure Skating Championships, it is the event of the year for figure skaters all over New Zealand. This week, Paradice Ice Skating Botany was the place to be as skaters poured their hearts out to showcase everything they’ve worked for this season. 

The Year 7s enjoyed singing their peer support songs this morning. An exciting way to finish off the term. They had been learning them during the last few weeks under the guidance of the peer support leaders who gave their time to be with the Year 7s during homeroom. Every class came with a well written song and performed it with enthusiasm. 

We finished day two with a campfire. Day 3 more activities, climbing nets and having fun. Today we packed up and headed home.

On Saturday the 22 September our school’s Big Band was offered a gig at the celebration of Dempsey Woods’ 25th anniversary held at the Auckland Museum. It was the first paid gig for most of our members and all came out of the gig with a little bit of money and snacks.
