On August 1, Sancta Maria College students participated in the annual Auckland Stand Up Stand Out, a local competition that showcases performance of a variety of musical genres such as contemporary, R.&.B, popular, jazz and Pacifica beats. This was held at Otara Music Arts Centre and this year, a large number of our students competed in a number of categories such as: group vocals, solo vocals, band, and for the first time, dance.

Year 7 and 8 dancers had the opportunity to perform at the Howick and Pakuranga Dance Festival on the August 6-7.They put in a lot of hard work, practicing every Tuesday lunch and on Thursday late starts since term 2. The holidays were used for practicing too, coming in twice to finish learning the dance. Then, in term 3, just a few weeks before the performance, practices took place every day at lunch, late starts and during class resulting in an amazing performance. We couldn’t have done it without the help of Miss Picot who made all of this possible.
