The students from Years 7,8 and 9 received a visit from The Science Roadshow. The day was jam packed full of fun and educational activities that taught the students plenty of new information about science.

In Year 10, digital students were able to use ‘growth mindset’ and create a game by working with peers and problem solving. And did we mention that we weren’t taught but encouraged by our teacher Mrs. Caudy.

2016 was the second year of the New Zealand Schools Japanese Trivia Championships competition. This joint initiative between NZAJLT (New Zealand Association of Japanese Language Teachers) and JSANZ (Japanese Studies Aotearoa New Zealand) attracted 87 teams from seven regions (Auckland, Waikato, Manawatu, Wellington, Nelson, Otago and Southland).

The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s ensemble, Mousike, came to visit us and perform for all of our young musicians.

Sancta Maria College has been making itself known at two of the premier competitions for New Zealand schools. Smokefree Rock Quest and Pacifika Beats are highly competitive events and the past two weeks have seen us enter both.
