On Thursday 25 October four Maori students accompanied by Mrs Holmes were privileged to be invited to take part in the Year 10 KATTI trip held at Nga Kete Wananga Marae located at MIT. This course, aimed at helping students think about tertiary career options, is making a difference to the number of young Māori who are staying at school and gaining national qualifications. It is a leadership and development programme for high school students from Year 10-13.

Lights flashing. Everyone clapping. Your class walk onto the stage… you dance your heart out! You are the star!… Not exactly… Last Friday (the 26th) the Year 8s performed a dance they have been working on for weeks. Everyone was nervous, but most of us were also excited. Tall Blacks basketballer Finn Delaney was guest speaker at our annual College Sports Awards evening. He shared his experiences of battling through adversity and how through demonstrating character and determination he reached his goal of becoming a better player. He was very popular among our students and a wonderful role model and ambassador for the Breakers and NZ basketball.
