From corsages to boutonnieres to dashing suits and magnificent ball dresses, this was definitely a night to remember.

It was the very first Athletics day at Sancta Maria College for Zach Saunders. He was a bright-eyed and eager Year 7 student feeling thrilled about the chance to go out and do the best he could on a day that would end up being more memorable and significant than he could have ever imagined. This was because on this very day Zach found a love for athletics and performed in a way that in his words was “alright” but in the eyes of everyone else, it was incredible and the beginning of something special.

Two chamber ensembles and one choir were invited to perform at the Bruce McLaren Retirement Village on Friday, 11 May. We were warmly welcomed into the home. While watching the different performances it was most intriguing to see the residents’ faces light up with smiles from ear to ear.

Vinnies Retreat:
On Wednesday afternoon, a few of our students gathered together with the Ignite Team for the annual Young Vinnies Retreat. The afternoon kicked off with ice breakers that allowed the students to be energised after a tiring day of school.

Everyone at Sancta Maria College should know that May 14-18 is Bullying Free Week. With lots of events planned it is going to be a very special week for one and all.

Perfect weather this afternoon for the school’s annual cross-country event. Lots of enthusiasm and effort resulted in competitive racing and some exciting finishes. Read on for results.

On Tuesday morning Meggy Laguda, Helen Pahulu, and former Sancta Maria College student Julia Tenedero, attended the Howick Youth Council Principal’s Breakfast. This breakfast was held at Te Tuhi Arts Centre in Pakuranga.

On Tuesday morning, the whole school was greeted with upbeat and booming music coming from the “DJ stage” at the centre of the auditorium. Today was a special assembly for all of us that included laughter and sniffles from everybody.

On a bright sunny Friday the Year 12 and 13 Painting, Sculpture and Design Art students were eager to make their way to the Auckland Art Gallery.

Three members of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra visited Sancta Maria College for the first of three session where they are mentoring our orchestral players.
