Friday saw the official debut of the Sancta Maria College Chess board and seating area constructed by the Year 13 Technology students of 2016 and situated outside the technology block.
The opening match saw Dr Henderson, representing the North Island take on Mr Camp representing the South.
With the game looking like a win to the North, honours were shared as the teachers tagged out, allowing students to take over.
Tag teams and individual challenges followed watched by an enthusiastic crowd and congratulations go to all involved: designers, builders, players and audience!
