A team of six Year 8 boys represented Sancta Maria College in orienteering held at Cornwall Park.
Jonathan Cao, Ryan Clifford, Ryan Dixon, Harrison Edwards, Tyler Halliday and Milan Taylor attended the Auckland Interzone Orienteering Champs and claimed 5th place for Sancta Maria College out of around 30 schools.
Congratulations to Harrison Edwards for being the fastest on his course.
Despite being their first year doing orienteering, they have achieved so much in so little time. Gaining new knowledge about orienteering as well as general life skills. They managed to secure top spots at both the North Island Secondary school champs and Auckland Interzones.
Through these boy’s efforts and successes, we hope that orienteering will be promoted more in Sancta Maria College with more students taking part. Tyler, Ryan and Harrison all said how much they enjoyed the day and how much they would like to continue with this challenging and exciting sport.
