From the March 4-8 a number of activities took place to recognise Sea Week. During Sea Week the Environment Team raised awareness about what happens to the rubbish in our drains. It was to help people understand that all the rubbish dropped in the drains eventually get flushed out into the ocean which will then kill sea life.
Oscar Stewart and Erica Lim were our first Star Award winners for 2019, being presented with their certificates at assembly on Tuesday morning.

Two huge wins for the Year 7 & 8 boys softball team was certainly something to celebrate, as the group put up a spirited effort at the recent South Eastern Zones Softball Tournament at Meadowlands Reserve.

We had two successful days at the Auckland Championships last week. The boys had a long first day playing 4 games. They had a strong first game against the Aorere College and just went down in a close two set game. They went on to grab one win from their pool over local rivals Ormiston Senior College.

Our track and field team had a great day at the Counties Manukau Secondary School championships last week. They produced a number of top 20 finishes and 8 championship performances.

Sancta Maria Primary and College had the privilege of hosting a conference for teachers about the future of education last Wednesday and Thursday. Teachers from all over New Zealand were invited to learn from the US Harvard professor Charles Fadel about the increasing presence of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. In addition, 5 students from both Elim Christian College and Sancta Maria College were lucky enough to attend the first day of the conference to represent the student perspective.
