The Sorting Hat has been shelved, all the Horcruxes found, and the Quidditch games played.
Last week saw Sancta Maria celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone being published.
Students came to the library on Monday to be sorted into their respective houses. The Sorting Hat decided whether they were a wise Ravenclaw, a cunning Slytherin, a loyal Hufflepuff or a brave Gryffindor.
Tuesday then brought with it Hufflepuff Pride Day, and a Horcrux scavenger hunt. Our best hunters were from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, but by the end of Tuesday Ravenclaw was still leading the house point competition, with Hufflepuff very close behind.
On Wednesday we celebrated our Ravenclaws, and held trivia in the form of a Kahoot quiz. Our clever Ravenclaws were still coming out on top with the House Cup.
Thursday meant the long awaited inter-house Quidditch matches had arrived! The 4 house times battled it out on the Quidditch pitch, with the Gryffindor team winning glory for their house, and Hufflepuff narrowly coming second.
Finally Friday came, heralding the end of our week-long festivities. A debate was held on the topic of whether Hogwarts is a good school, with the Hufflepuff-Slytherin team losing by a large margin to the Ravenclaw-Gryffindor team.
Now here we are, with the weekend having contained the judging of the many impressive submissions for the fanart and colouring competitions.
The points have been tallied and checked many times, and we are very proud to announce that the winners of the 2017 Sancta Maria-Hogwarts House Cup are… Ravenclaw.
Yes, Ravenclaw, with 3140 points is our victor, beating Hufflepuff with 2730 points. Gryffindor came third with 2360 points, and Slytherin brought up the rear with 1520 points.
Thank you to all who organised and helped run all the activities of the past week. And a special thanks to all the students who participated. We hope to make this an annual event for us to come together and share our love of all things Harry Potter.
