Dr Laux and four members of the environmental team (Daniel West, Niamh Walsh, Kelly Mascarenhas and Lorenzo Cruz) attended the Wastewise Schools secondary workshop held at the Flickling convention centre in Three Kings. The day was fully packed with activities based around the most efficient ways to reduce waste around your school.
This was an amazing workshop where students and teachers interacted with each other and realized that inspiration to be waste wise was shared by so many people. Participants all acknowledged that waste reduction is not just a matter for the environmental team but is an issue that could be tackled by all subject areas from Mathematics to Social Studies through the Arts and many more. The group came back to school equipped with a new proposal for the waste system at Sancta Maria College that they will forward to the senior leadership team for consideration. Watch this space and in the meantime, do your bit to maintain our grounds as a waste wise environment.
