Last Wednesday, Quintin Wong competed in the Auckland School Swimming Championships held at West Wave, Aquatic Centre in Henderson. The day was full of challenges to overcome, but Quintin was able to qualify 11th for both events. Quintin managed to finish 9th for backstroke with a time of 32.12, and 6th for breaststroke with a time of 35.96.

My homestay buddy’s English name is Ken. He enjoyed going to school at Sancta Maria College because he was able to develop his English. He also enjoyed playing with his new friends during interval and lunch.

The annual Principals’ Breakfast hosted by the Howick Youth Council (HYC) took place yesterday morning at the Te Tuhi art gallery in Pakuranga. This was a great opportunity for teacher representatives from the nine schools within the Howick ward to connect with HYC and get a preview of the events that they will be organising over this coming year.

Felix Cheng and Andrew Choi both made it to the quarter-finals of the Archery Interschool Matchplay competition at the weekend before being knocked out with very small score differences between themselves and the qualifiers.

One week after the College Sport Auckland Outdoor Ultimate Championships, our composite team headed to Taupo to prepare for the New Zealand Secondary Schools (NZSS) Ultimate Champs on March 25/26.

Marielle Venida claimed two individual golds in the Junior 100 and 200m as well as being part of the successful Counties 4×100 relay team at the North Island Secondary School Track and Field Championships at the weekend. Held at the Tauranga Domain, the event also saw Tanya Murray take second place in the Senior Shot Put with a personal best of 13.17m and 7th in the Hammer with a throw of 39.45m.

This event provided great insight into the various opportunities and choices provided to students. Not only were there numerous universities present, but also different industries, trades and specialised companies.
