The idea that there is a whole story behind a poem was brought to life today as students at Sancta Maria College were lucky enough to experience a captivating, intriguing and unique presentation of poetry through acting and plays.

On 26 June, the students involved in Chamber groups (Chamber orchestra, Primo Orchestra, Light Orchestra, Accordia, Harmonique, Junior Choir, Sanctus, Les Mousquetaires) performed in front of a large audience. It was an early start for Group 1 from 11CLE who aim to sell baked items to raise funds to make Christmas parcels for 100 volunteers working at Totara Hospice, Manurewa. A 8.45am on Saturday at Bunnings, Botany, saw them start to set up the stall with the help of their parents and Dr Laux.

Last week 9 GNS, CLE, DNN and BRN participated in the Fructose test run by Ms Webber from Auckland University and Dr Laux. The night before, the students were not to eat any food after 8.30pm the night before the experiment. They were only allowed to drink water in the morning before coming to school.

Eleni Motuliki, one of our talented music students, took part in the SINGout4JUSTICE song writing competition organized by Caritas New Zealand. Her composition ‘Love in our Hearts’ won a top five award. ‘Don’t look any further’, by Jenna Aspeling and Minju Kim was also placed in the top five by the judges. The theme was “love more, be more” and Eleni’s song was based on the situation where people are complaining about their own situation and not really thinking about the way other people might be living.
