Our clarinet quintet, Sancta Cinq, represented the school at Auckland heat of the prestigious NZCT Chamber Music Contest which was held at Epsom Girls’ Grammar School. The judges enjoyed Sancta Cinq’s lively delivery and praised their togetherness.
The quintet comprises of Aidan Chan, Nasya Chin, Maddi Blincoe, Katherine Brzozowski and Samuel Hong.
This is a national competition for chamber ensembles and the Auckland heats are spread over four days, featuring 84 ensembles. Sancta Cinq (who prefer to be called The Lost Socks!) performed two pieces by Scott Joplin: his evergreen The Entertainer and a less well-known piece entitled Solace, which is a jaunty Mexican-style piece that belies its serious title.
We can be very proud of their efforts and look forward to hearing more from them very soon.
