On 20 June 2023, the Sancta Maria College Senior Choir, otherwise known as Sanctus, sang three pieces at the Auckland Town Hall for the yearly ‘Big Sing’ competition. We sang Jubilate Deo, an acapella piece arranged by Kirby Shaw, Je sais vierge Marie by Jenny McLeod, and The More I See You by Mack Gordon. Our Senior Choir is comprised of many young voices from Year 8 up to Year 13. As any well-oiled machine, we practice twice a week, once with our Head of Department, Mr Gibbs, and once with Mrs Rhodes, a prominent vocal and choral teacher. Practicing as a choir allows us to develop and improve our vocal capabilities, furthering us to be an excellent, well-rounded choir at the forefront of our school. A great thank you to Mr. Gibbs and Mrs. Rhodes for their immense time and support, as well as the commitment of our fellow young voices.
