Nine huge wins this week, all by more than twenty points is a remarkable result for the school’s Basketball Club. There was an average of 63.8 points scored per game across all the winning teams which just shows the offensive talent that the players showcased and their ability to put up staggering numbers.

Members of the audience watching the show commented, “It was an incredible performance – one where you couldn’t stop smiling! As soon as the curtains closed, I wanted them to open back up so that the cast could continue with the show!”

Inspiration can be found anywhere. This was the way of thinking for our Year 12 and 13 Art and Design students when taking a trip to several galleries on Thursday.

Thursday night’s game for the Sancta Maria College 1st XI girls’ hockey team was one of the hardest they have played this season. In the first half the Sancta Maria girls did a spectacular job keeping the St Cuthbert’s score to only one goal.

The countdown is on to New Zealand’s largest youth fundraising event. Preparation for the forty-hour famine and fundraisers are in full swing and like every year, Sancta Maria College is ready to show the world that change is possible.

Many students and teachers from SMC collected and removed moth plants and contributed to help saving our native species. Sancta Maria College came in 6th place and won $100 for our effort, finding moth plants for the competition.

Sancta Maria College got involved and showed our support for St. Luke’s Catholic Community and their journey towards building a new place of worship.

Friday became the day of pink galore. Throughout the week, the classes of Sancta Maria College had been gearing up for this final day of the week. Each year level had spent these last few days coordinating their events and activities concerning bullying free. In particular, decorating classrooms with pink banners, pink balloons, pink confetti, pink pom poms – anything pink to show their support for a Bullying Free NZ. When Friday came, students and staff alike banded together to join the movement to stop bullying and spread aroha and kindness.

It was a great day for a high scoring game for our 1st XV on Saturday and that’s exactly what we got with our boys coming out 42-5 winners over our neighbours, Pakuranga College.

It was incredibly nerve-wracking for the participants, most of whom spent the ride to Macauley High School anxiously doing last minute prep. The Pompallier Shield is an annual competition for all Catholic secondary schools in Auckland, where the colleges compete in 5 categories: Maori scripture, Junior Scripture, Senior Scripture, Junior Speech and Senior oratory.
