The Year 9 food technologies class ran a high tea on November 29. After preparing for several days they served a multitude of food including scones, brownies, cupcakes, club sandwiches, cheese straws, pizza rolls and other items.

Our Year 9 & 10 boys’ team competed at the Auckland Secondary School Softball Championships on Thursday, finishing 3rd. It was one of the few sunny days in recent weeks and the competition was hot straight away.

The Epro 8 semi-finals were ok I guess, considering we didn’t win! There were lots of challenges and it was quite difficult for some people. One group didn’t read the criteria so they built random stuff, including some sort of chair for some reason. By the end of the competition, I think everybody’s hands were dirty and had an iron smell.

The auditorium was soon filled with eager Year 6s from the College’s main feeder schools. It was the transition day, and they were all getting ready to go on tours and take part in a Sancta Maria College Quiz.

There was a lot of buzz and excitement in the air as Year 8s raced around the auditorium on Wednesday, eager to complete each activity from World of Mathematics.

Sancta Maria College will be represented at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Track & Field Championships in Dunedin over the weekend (30 November – 2 December) with three students competing.

Two Year 10 art classes were privileged to take a day out of school to explore the Auckland Art Gallery. The day was based on looking into the message of each piece of artwork.

Alex Dougherty and Emmalee Lynch from 10GNS created the winning ad for this year’s Blue Light Anti-Bullying Campaign. This national competition is organised by Blue Light, a charity with a goal to build positive partnerships between youth and police.

On Wednesday night, SMC’s Junior Choir walked proudly onto the stage to perform with a number of other students at the APPA Festival.
